Ruchil Cottage was built in 1747 to house troops at the time of General Wade and the Jacobite Rebellion.
Some time thereafter, the top floor was destroyed by fire and it was re-constructed as a single storey-building with high ceilings, whilst retaining the thick stone walls characteristic of the times.
The cottage has recently undergone a significant renovation and upgrade to provide comfortable living space with all modern conveniences.
It is situated five minutes walk from the beautiful village of Comrie, seven miles from Crieff in the heart of scenic Strathearn.
Perthshire is one of Scotland’s most beautiful areas. Its mountains, lochs, rivers and woodlands are justifiably famous.
It also has a vast range of sites of historical and other interest, including prehistoric monoliths and stone circles, the Crannog centre on Loch Tay, Wade’s Bridge at Aberfeldy and the Hermitage near Dunkeld.
There are unmatched opportunities for painting and photography, as the large number of galleries featuring works by local artists shows.
For those interested in walking, climbing or mountaineering, many challenges are available at all levels of difficulty. The lochs and rivers provide game fishing, as well as sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing and canoeing
